Ms. Smith's Biography
Hi there! My name is Courtney Smith, and I’m proud to teach 7th grade Math at Madisonville Middle School, where I also serve as the Math Department Chair. I started my teaching journey here in the 2019–2020 school year, and I’ve loved every moment of watching my students learn, grow, and challenge themselves in math. I strive to make math fun and approachable so that every student can build confidence and discover success. I’m also passionate about supporting my fellow teachers with math instruction, because I believe that when we grow together, our students benefit the most.
I graduated from Maryville College in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and later earned my Master of Arts in Teaching from Western Governors University in 2019. Before stepping into my own classroom, I taught RTI intervention classes and completed my student teaching right here at MMS—so this school has truly been part of my story from the start!
I feel incredibly blessed to work alongside some of the best colleagues and students in Monroe County. As a former Monroe County student myself, it’s an honor to now give back to the same community that shaped me.
Outside of the classroom, I’m a huge Disney fan, an avid reader, a coffee enthusiast, and I love to travel whenever I can. I’m so excited for another year full of learning, laughter, and growth with my students!
