2024-2025 6th Grade Math Class Page

Welcome to 6th Grade Math! We will be covering a variety of topics this year! This year, the big take-a-ways are revolving around thinking with logic and number sense, and how to use those to persevere through more complex situations! Brick x Brick, we will learn to problem solve together! We will start off the year with Ratios! By the end of the 1st 9 weeks, we will have gone through Module 1 completely, and some of module 2! 

 

Most of our Graded mathwork will be done via McGraw-Hill app, accessible from Clever. Within this app, we also use a rigorous practice program call ALEKS. These programs are geared towards learning many approaches to math, and training students to use those to accel in it. 

 

IXL is available for students to use! I have a list of codes to work on for each module that we work on. Some of us need more practice than others, and IXL and ALEKS is great for that! 

 

Our Math Journals will be used for us to do our brain work! Having an written example that is student created helps reinforce ideas! Students will also be using Whiteboards in class to demonstrate their approach to the assignment. Since we work at a steady pace, it is easy to feel overwhelmed- but we will continue to work the pace and not be left behind!  Pat Summitt said it best- "Success is a project that is always under construction", and that is how we need to think of our struggles and gains!
